Karolina Pelendritou will be aiming for her eighth European medal, who qualified for the final of the European Para Swimming Championships, taking place in Kocaeli, Turkey, with the third-fastest time in the 50-meter freestyle in the S11 category.
The three-time Paralympic gold medalist, swimming in the second heat, finished second with a time of 30.63 and was third in the overall standings, behind the Dutch swimmers Irene Van Drimmelen (30.23) and Liesette Bruinsma (30.57).
It should be noted that Karolina Pelendritou holds the European record in this event, with a time of 29.58, which she set at the 2022 World Championships in Madeira.
Pelendritou was crowned European Champion in 2024 in Madeira in the 50-meter freestyle, and she has won six other European medals in the 100-meter breaststroke. She also stood on the top step of the podium in Berlin (2011) and Eindhoven (2014). She won silver in 2018 in Dublin, and in 2021 and 2024 in Madeira, where she took bronze in 2016.
All of the day’s scheduled finals will take place after 5:00 p.m., with the women’s 50-meter freestyle final—in which Karolina Pelendritou will compete—being the eighth in the lineup.
Karolina Pelendritou’s efforts are supported by the KOA and KEPE, as well as her long-time sponsor, Allwyn Cyprus, and SWANS and the TATOI CLUB.
