On May 21, 2025, 48-year-old Giorgos Zavrantonas will once again take the stand at the Permanent Criminal Court, following the unprecedented decision by the Court of Appeals to overturn the 22-year prison sentence imposed on him in 2022 for the 15-kilogram cocaine case, citing judicial misconduct.
According to reports, the 48-year-old will face the same charges from four years ago, which included, among other things:
- Conspiracy to commit a felony
- Illegal supply of narcotics to another person
- Illegal supply of drugs to another person
- Illegal possession of drugs
- Illegal possession of narcotics with the intent to supply them to others

Speaking on the Alpha Kalimera show, Zavrantonas’s lawyer, Christos Poutziouris, explained that he will request his release on probation.
