Mehdi Taremi expressed his own deep dissatisfaction, as well as that of his teammates and, more broadly, all members of the Iranian delegation, in his statements.
The Iranian star of Olympiacos lashed out at FIFA and its president, citing broken promises and concluding that all of this shows they want Iran in the tournament.
“This World Cup is a disaster for us. We don’t have the conditions that professional soccer players deserve. If FIFA considers all of this to be fair, then we have nothing to say. For us, however, it’s unfair. Infantino promised us that things would change, but nothing has happened. It’s as if they don’t want us to advance to the knockout stage,” he said, adding:
“We’re playing for our people, and we want to make them proud. We want to send a message of peace to the whole world, but unfortunately we don’t feel that we’re being treated the same way,” concluded the Olympiacos international star.
