There is deep concern within the ranks of the Cyprus Police following reports that videos and photos from the scene of the attempted femicide of a 46-year-old woman and the case of unnatural death—in which a 55-year-old police officer is the suspect—are circulating on citizens’ cell phones.
This development has put the leadership of the police force investigating the matter on high alert, as they seek ways to stop the reproduction and dissemination of the macabre material.
As reported by Alpha’s correspondent in Limassol, Erika Kavazi, the incident is of particular concern to police authorities due to the circumstances under which the video was filmed and leaked.
It appears that police are reaching some conclusions, though the possibility of further developments in the next 24 hours cannot be ruled out.
Meanwhile, the 46-year-old woman’s condition has stabilized but remains critical.
The 46-year-old is a “key figure” in the case, as it is expected that once she is able to testify, she will be able to provide answers to questions that currently remain unanswered regarding the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, such as how the two ended up outside Agios Spyridonas High School.

According to the evidence so far, however, the 55-year-old went to work, loaded his service weapon, and headed to their home, and appears to have followed the 46-year-old woman until they stopped at some point outside the high school, where the crime took place, resulting in the woman’s critical injury.
As investigations and interrogations reveal, the statements made by the 46-year-old woman’s son-in-law—that she was a victim of domestic violence—appear to be confirmed; however, the police point out that there were no reports or complaints filed.
As for the 55-year-old’s behavior at the police station, it appears that he had a meeting with police leadership because there was discontent among police officers after he borrowed money from his colleagues, as a result of which he was summoned to appear at Police Headquarters to receive assistance.
