Petrolina, a publicly traded petroleum company with Cypriot interests that operates one of the largest networks of gas stations in Cyprus, and Printec, a leading provider of transaction technology solutions, with a presence in 17 countries across Central and Eastern Europe, have successfully completed the modernization of the payment infrastructure at Petrolina’s gas stations, Agip, and Eni stations by installing Printec’s Mini Outdoor Payment Terminals (Mini OPTs) across its nationwide network of gas stations.
The project, which began in 2023, covered 93 gas stations throughout Cyprus and is part of Petrolina’s overall strategy to enhance operational efficiency, enhance the customer experience, and accelerate the digital transformation of its fuel retail operations.
The project’s primary objective was to adopt advanced payment technology while making the most of existing infrastructure. To this end, Printec developed an innovative hybrid solution that combined a new Mini OPT unit with the existing equipment at Petrolina’s gas stations, enabling a smooth transition to modern payment technologies without the need to completely replace the existing installations.
This approach enabled Petrolina to reduce implementation costs, minimize operational disruptions, and accelerate the rollout of the solution across its network, while offering consumers a faster, more secure, and more user-friendly payment experience.
Following the successful completion of the first phase and the resulting benefits, Petrolina moved forward in 2025 with the second phase of the project, which involved replacing the remaining infrastructure—including the lower part of the unit and the cash drawer— with a redesigned Mini Outdoor Payment Terminal solution.
Drawing on the experience gained during the first phase, Printec undertook the complete design, mechanical development, and manufacturing of the new unit, creating a fully integrated Mini OPT platform designed and manufactured exclusively by the company, resulting in a fully integrated Mini OPT system designed and manufactured exclusively by Printec.
Continuous investment in modern infrastructure and technologies is a key element of our strategy. In collaboration with Printec, we have installed Mini Outdoor Payment Terminals at Petrolina, Agip, and Eni gas stations, further enhancing the quality of the services we offer to consumers every day and ensuring an upgraded payment experience across our entire network,” said Kikis Ioannou, Marketing Assistant Manager at Petrolina (Holdings) Public Limited.
Referring to the project, Maria Loupi, Country Manager of Printec Cyprus, stated:
“This project highlights Printec’s ability to offer innovative solutions for the gas station industry. Through a practical and effective approach, we supported Petrolina in modernizing its network while leveraging its existing investments.”
The successful completion of the project further strengthens the partnership between Petrolina and Printec and reaffirms Printec’s position as a trusted technology partner for the fuel station in Cyprus and the wider region.
