The head of Ecuador's intelligence services, Michele Sensi-Contugi, and his wife were killed when a helicopter carrying tourists crashed in central Kenya. The accident occurred under unclear circumstances at the foot of Mount Ololokwe, claiming the lives of a total of seven people—the pilot and the six passengers.

Sensi-Konduy was the head of the Center for Strategic Intelligence (CIES) and a close associate of Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa. The loss was confirmed by the country’s Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation, Roberto Luque, who expressed his condolences to the couple’s family and loved ones via the X platform. Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of State announced that five U.S. citizens were among the victims of the tragedy.
