A 68-year-old French tourist met a tragic death when his car broke down in Death Valley in the U.S. amid extreme heat.
The unfortunate man and a fellow traveler abandoned their vehicle in a remote part of the national park and attempted to walk to a busier road, at a time when the temperature had reached 46 degrees Celsius.
After walking two kilometers, the 68-year-old stopped. His traveling companion continued on and, after quite some time, received help from a passing driver. National park security was notified, but they arrived too late to save the 68-year-old’s life.

“It’s a stark reminder of how quickly conditions here can become dangerous,” said Mike Reynolds, head of security for the national park.
“Death Valley is an amazing place, but the high temperatures and long distances can be dangerous even for experienced travelers,” he explained.
Park officials warn visitors about extreme heat conditions during the summer months and urge them to be very careful, emphasizing that cell phones do not work in certain parts of Death Valley.
