Mondo Duplantis celebrated his victory at the Zurich Diamond League with a jump of 6.25 m, but he particularly highlighted the intense battle he had with Emmanouil Karalis at heights above 6.20 m.
“The competition with Manolo above 6.20 meters was… insane. It was a real battle,” said the Swede, who revealed that his goal was to break the world record once again.
“I wanted to break the world record today because it was a historic competition. I felt like I was very close. I should be happy, but I don’t feel all that satisfied. I shouldn’t complain, though. Let me just take the win,” added Duplantis.
As a reminder, the Swedish star athlete attempted three times to clear the bar at 6.32m, but was unsuccessful.
