Prices for student apartments in the Nicosia and Limassol districts are skyrocketing, ahead of the announcement of admission results for Cyprus’s higher and higher education institutions.
This is according to Polys Kourousidis, President of the Association of Real Estate Appraisers, who explained on the Alpha Kalokairi show that a student’s expenses have become a major problem for many parents, as they struggle to cover basic needs such as rent, utilities, electricity, telecommunications, and food.

As he said, unless there is an immediate increase in the supply of available apartments, the issue of high rents will persist and may even lead students to suspend or postpone their studies.
Mr. Kourousidis recommended that the government grant further permits for the construction of student housing by private individuals, in order to expand the housing stock for this specific purpose.
