A protest rally was held on Sunday morning on the Agios Ioannis–Kato Moni road, with residents and members of the “Communities in Action” calling for a halt to work on the relocation of the asphalt plant to Mitsero.
The focus of the protest was the site where work has already begun on the plant’s installation; the plant is set to be relocated from Tseri, where its operation had been shut down for reasons related to public health.

The participants expressed their opposition to the relocation, citing the protection of the health of residents—and especially the children in the area—as a key concern. As they stated, the goal is to ensure a safe environment and to allow children to grow up breathing clean air.
During the protest, citizens held banners with slogans such as: “We demand our right to clean air” – “We must safeguard our children’s future”—“I can’t believe that my own President is destroying my children’s future; he’s been misinformed.”
The “Communities in Action” calls on the relevant authorities to reconsider the decision on the relocation, arguing that public health and the protection of residents should be a priority.
