Dimitriou on the victory over Omonia Aradippou, the return of the organized fans, and the top spot

Statements by the AEK press officer

The team’s press officer, Kyriakos Dimitriou, spoke to “Super Sport 104.0” about everything related to AEK.

More generally, he commented on the victory against Omonia Aradippou, the fact that the “yellow-and-greens” are at the top of the standings after 5 matchdays, and the return of the team’s organized fan base.

Here are his comments in detail

On AEK’s victory: “An extremely important victory, especially given the anxiety we felt right up until the end. We knew that Anderegen had had some very good seasons at Ethnikos, and we knew what he would bring to the team. It took some time for him to overcome the problem that had been bothering him, but we can see that he’s now firmly back in the mix. In the first half, we weren’t that threatening, but in the second half, we really put the pressure on our opponent. It’s important to have options and depth on the roster that can change the flow of the game. We put intense pressure on our opponent.”

On AEK being at the top of the standings: “What I always say is that when you take stock of the month and look at five games, we could have done better—like in the game against Paphos. Every game is different, and we have to find our own solutions. Yesterday’s game was also a test for us to see how our team would perform. In the second half, we improved in some areas and put intense pressure on our opponent. Fortunately, at the right moment, Anderegen was in the right place and secured the victory for us. Naum was also outstanding. We have depth and quality this year, and players who bring a lot to our games. Our coach is striving for the best, and the way he described the game yesterday was spot-on. On the right flank with Naum, we were quite aggressive.”

On the fans: “Thank you to the organized fan groups for coming back—we want them by our side—and we celebrated the victory together. We’re looking forward to seeing them in Limassol as well.”
