A 21-year-old woman is in critical condition; she was transported early Wednesday morning from Paros to Tzaneio Hospital in Piraeus while in a comatose state, following a suspected drug overdose.
According to Michalis Giannakos, president of POEDIN, investigators are looking into the possibility that the young woman ingested a substance known as a “date rape drug,” though the nature of the substance or the circumstances under which she ingested it have not yet been confirmed.

According to Mr. Giannakos, a friend of the 21-year-old was arrested in Paros and is being questioned, as authorities are investigating the possibility that he administered the substance to her.
The 21-year-old is being treated on a ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit at Tzaneio Hospital, where doctors are making every effort to save her.
The exact circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
