Lorenzo Pirola’s performances in an Olympiacos jersey have not gone unnoticed in Italy. The 24-year-old center back is having an outstanding season, has established himself as a regular in Imanol Alguacil’s starting lineup, and is now under close scrutiny at both the club and national team levels.
The Italian center back has managed to become indispensable. Even David Carmo, who returned to Piraeus with the expectation of getting significant playing time, has found himself behind him in the pecking order on several occasions. After all, he has taken on a pivotal role in the defense and seems to be enjoying the trust placed in him.
His market value is also indicative of his upward trajectory; in the most recent valuation in June, it reached 11 million euros. Based on his current form, the trend is considered upward, as Pirola continues to add strong performances to his record.
One such performance came against Sparta Prague, when the 24-year-old star was among Olympiacos’ top performers. In the stands at “G. Karaiskakis” stadium, a Roma scout was present, with reports from Italy indicating that the “Giallorossi” have been impressed by what they’ve seen from the young center back.
So far, there has been no official move to sign him. However, the fact that Roma officials have repeatedly been spotted at the Faliro stadium is particularly noteworthy, as a representative of the Italian club was also present at the derby against Panathinaikos.
The interest in Pirrola doesn’t stop there. His performances are also being monitored by the Italian national team, with Roberto Mancini and his staff keeping a close eye on his progress at Olympiacos.
He, however, remains focused exclusively on his commitments with Olympiacos. The prospect of playing for the Italian national team is a major goal, but he does not seem to be influenced by transfer rumors, as his priority is to continue on the same path with the “Red-and-Whites.”
