Thunder: Shock over Jalen Williams – He was carried off on a stretcher, with Shey in tears

Serious injury
ALPHANEWSLIVE

The Thunder's 108-101 victory over the Clippers took a back seat, as, shortly before the end of the game, Jalen Williams suffered a serious injury to his left lower leg and was carried off on a stretcher.

Williams was injured while driving to the basket with 1:14 remaining in the game. The medical staff immediately rushed onto the court, while players from both teams reacted visibly shocked upon seeing the condition of the 25-year-old guard.

The game was halted for about five minutes, with Williams’ left leg covered in towels while first aid was administered. Before leaving the court, however, he gave the thumbs-up sign twice to the crowd cheering him on.

So far, there is no official diagnosis regarding the extent of the injury. Thunder coach Mark Deignolt said the team would provide an update on his condition on Monday morning.

“We’re not doing well,” was his telling remark after the game, describing the mood in the locker room.

Shea Giljeus-Alexander also appeared particularly emotional, struggling to hold back tears during his remarks. “I just feel bad for him. Nothing more,” he said at first.

The Thunder’s leader also spoke about his teammate’s mindset, expressing his belief that he’ll come back stronger. “He loves to play and loves competition. He’s been unlucky so far, but he has everything it takes to overcome it.”

Williams averaged 18 points in the first 250 games of his NBA career, having already been named an All-Star and an All-NBA team member, and played a leading role in the Thunder’s championship run in 2025.

Last season, he missed 49 games due to various injuries, mainly to his hamstring, but also due to rehabilitation following major surgery on his right wrist.
