According to initial reports from the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA), the 28-year-old was riding his motorcycle in a mountainous area of the region when he was struck in the face by pellets, resulting in a serious eye injury. Meanwhile, a forensic medical examination is expected to be conducted to assess the nature and extent of the injury.

An EKAV ambulance was dispatched to the scene, picked up the young man, and transported him to the General Hospital of Corfu to receive the necessary medical care.

Police authorities are examining all possibilities, with the theory of a hunting accident being the focus of the investigation. The area in question is a hunting ground, and the hunting season is currently underway.

A criminal case has been filed regarding this incident for causing serious bodily injury and violating firearms laws. Investigations by the Hellenic Police to clarify the circumstances of the incident and identify the person responsible are ongoing.
