Defense Minister Nikos Dendias asked the Chairman of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, General Dimitrios Houpis, to immediately suspend the Hellenic Navy Chief Petty Officer, who was arrested in Lefkada in connection with the arson attacks against his former partners.
Specifically, Mr. Dendias asked the Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, General Dimitrios Houpis, to immediately initiate the necessary procedures to place the 46-year-old non-commissioned officer on administrative leave.
The 46-year-old was arrested at noon on Friday (October 30) in Lefkada, as he is accused of carrying out two arson attacks in the early hours of the same day, approximately 15 minutes apart, in Glyfada, setting fire to the apartment of his ex-partner, as well as to the cars of another woman with whom he had previously been in a relationship and her current partner.
At the same time, police authorities are investigating his possible involvement in a third arson attack on the car of another former partner in Neo Heraklion.
