An arson attack on a restaurant in the Limassol Marina area—which is owned by a businessman who had previously been the target of a criminal act— took place around 5:15 a.m. on Saturday morning, with police investigating a case of arson.
In his statements, Limassol Assistant Police Director Lefteris Kyriakou stated that the police received a report of a fire at the restaurant and immediately dispatched members of the Fire Department and patrol cars from the Limassol Police Directorate, who arrived at the scene and cordoned it off.
The fire was extinguished by the Fire Department, but it caused damage to the restaurant’s display window.

Based on the on-site investigation, Mr. Kyriakou said, it appears the fire was set maliciously using flammable material.
As he noted, investigations are continuing in the area to gather witness statements that could lead to the identification of the perpetrators.
When asked whether evidence had been secured from the previous case and whether the businessman had reported receiving threats, Mr. Kyriakou said that during his previous testimony, he had provided some information and made allegations regarding disputes with specific individuals, which were investigated but have not yet yielded any concrete results.
He added that the case involving the previous criminal act is still under investigation, and new statements are expected to be taken from the businessman to determine whether there have been any new threats or other evidence that could assist the investigation.
