Aris made a big statement at the Alexandrio, securing a victory that holds special significance for the rest of the season!
With a commanding performance (101-91), the “Yellows” stood toe-to-toe with Panathinaikos, imposed their rhythm, and held the lead for almost the entire game, at one point even building a double-digit lead. Despite the “Greens’” efforts to get back into the game, the Thessaloniki team maintained its composure and playing style, achieving a great result.
Thus, Aris improved to 4-1, tying Panathinaikos’ record and sending a strong message that they are no fluke among the teams capable of contending for a leading role.
Matt Morgan led the winners with 21 points, while Adam Mokoka scored 19 points and Neno Dimitrievic added 14 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl was explosive once again with 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals, while Toliopoulos added 14 points on 3-for-5 shooting from three-point range.
For Panathinaikos, which fought hard and came back from a 12-point deficit but was unable to complete the comeback, Gerson Jabousele scored 22 points, 20 for Sylvain Francisco, 17 for Nigel Hayes-Davis, and 16 for Matías Lesor.
Aris now turns its attention to the crucial match against Hapoel Jerusalem for the 6th round of the EuroCup (Nov. 4, 9:00 p.m.), while Panathinaikos will face Real Madrid in Madrid for Round 10 of the EuroLeague (November 4, 9:45 p.m.).
