Loizos Moisos, a spokesperson for Nea Salamina, made statements to “SPOR FM 95.0.”

He discussed the May 29 loss to Omonia, the upcoming match against Omonia Aradippou, and the team’s performance so far this season.

Here is what he said in detail

On the May 29 loss to Omonia: “It was a game where we absolutely did not want the result with which the match ended. We were aiming for the win, but our overall performance was by no means what it should have been, and the loss followed, which raises questions about how we can improve our performance—and that’s where the team and the coaching staff are focusing all their attention. In the upcoming match against Omonia Aradippou, we want to see a completely different Nea Salamina. “We’re doing what needs to be done to reverse what we saw last week.”

Regarding the fact that the team’s performance in most matches was good but didn’t result in points: “We know the quality of the team; we’ve seen it on display on the field in some matches. We know the potential of our entire squad. Our points tally is clearly a cause for concern. It shouldn’t be what it is. I believe we deserved more points, which unfortunately we don’t have. What we need to do is improve so that we can earn those points in the upcoming games.”

On the fact that the team hasn’t scored in the last two games while conceding goals easily: “The numbers don’t lie. Especially the number of goals conceded—that’s why I mentioned that we need to improve. At every level, in order to turn things around. The team’s overall performance in the May 29 match against Omonia was undeniably poor, and we have apologized—and continue to apologize—to the fans. However, our fans can rest assured that every possible effort is being made to ensure that we see a transformed Nea Salamina on Friday. It’s only natural for the fans to have expectations; it’s understandable that they’re disappointed. We’ll assure them that we’re making a huge effort to turn things around.”

On the match against Omonia Aradippou: “The goal is non-negotiable. It’s a ‘six-point’ game. We’re facing a team that’s one point ahead of us. We clearly and unequivocally want the three points. We want the fans behind us at a packed ‘Ammochostos – Epistrofi’ stadium. The energy and momentum they give us are directly linked to our performance on the field. I assure him that we’re doing everything humanly possible to ensure we see a completely different Nea Salamina.”

On Granchir and his future: “The only thing on our minds is Friday’s game. Nothing else.”
