Patty Mills shared his perspective on the differences between the EuroLeague and the NBA in an interview with “Mozzart Sport,” emphasizing that they are essentially two completely different sports.
As he explained, his time on the Australian national team and his participation in FIBA tournaments helped him prepare for this new challenge, but the EuroLeague is a unique experience.
“Honestly, I believe that the EuroLeague and the NBA are two competitions that cannot be compared. If you really break it down, they’re almost like two different sports. For me, my many years on the national team served as good preparation. I’ve participated in several FIBA tournaments.
All of these experiences helped me, at least to some extent, prepare for this new challenge, the pressure, and the rules. However, playing in the EuroLeague is a completely new experience. I’ve always wanted to experience the competition firsthand and everything that comes with it. I’m enjoying every moment,” he said.
Mills also mentioned two of the top European players making their mark in the NBA: Nikola Jokić and Victor Wembanyama. Regarding the Serbian center, he noted that his titles and individual accolades in recent years speak for themselves, while he noted that the French center is making significant strides and that his dominance is yet to come.
At the same time, he did not hide his optimism about the San Antonio Spurs, his team in the Western Conference, predicting that they will reach the NBA Finals and this time go on to win the championship.
