A tsunami preparedness drill will be held on November 10.
According to a post by the Civil Defense and the Geological Survey Department, as part of the operation of the tsunami early warning system active in the Mediterranean region—in which Cyprus also participates—“the #neamwave2026 will take place on November 10, 2026, based on the scenario of the historic catastrophic earthquake in Cyprus (M7.5, 1222) that triggered a devastating tsunami on our island.”

It is further noted that during the exercise, the CY-Alert early warning system will be activated, sending alerts to the cell phones of citizens located in the coastal area of Cyprus.
Further information regarding the drill is expected to be released within the next few days by the Civil Defense.
