Police authorities in Paphos are investigating a case of attempted murder and acts intended to cause serious bodily harm, with a 74-year-old man as the victim and two suspects aged 22 and 28.
The 74-year-old reported the incident to the authorities, stating that on November 4, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., while he was outside an apartment complex, an unknown driver attempted to run him over with his car but failed. The driver then allegedly steered his vehicle toward the 74-year-old’s car and deliberately rammed into it, causing damage.
According to the complaint, after the suspect’s vehicle left the scene, two unknown individuals approached the elderly man and allegedly attacked him by throwing chairs at him, injuring him in the legs, back, and head.
The 74-year-old was taken to Paphos General Hospital, where he was found to have a hematoma at the back of his head, a broken nose, and abrasions on his legs. He was admitted for treatment and was discharged yesterday.
During the police investigation, evidence emerged against the suspects, who were arrested yesterday pursuant to court warrants and taken into custody.
The two were brought before the Paphos District Court today, which issued six-day detention orders against them to facilitate the investigation.
