Wenger vs. Infantino? He is seriously considering running for the FIFA presidency

His final decision is expected next week
ALPHANEWSLIVE

A particularly prominent figure appears to be seriously considering entering the race for the FIFA presidency, running against Gianni Infantino.

We’re talking about Arsène Wenger, whose name has been mentioned with increasing frequency lately as a potential rival to the current president in the elections scheduled for March 18 in Rabat, Morocco.

The 77-year-old former Arsenal coach currently works at FIFA as director of global football development and, until recently, had appeared hesitant about the prospect of runningthe top position at the world governing body.

Recently, however, the situation appears to have changed.

According to reports, several meetings have taken place with the aim of convincing Wenger to finally run as a candidate, and his final decision is expected by the middle of next week.

Those opposed to Infantino’s re-election believe that the Frenchman possesses qualities that could make him a particularly strong candidate.

His immense international recognition, his long-standing presence at the highest level of soccer, and the experience he has now gained within FIFA are key advantages.

At the same time, Wenger is said to enjoy significant support among federations in Africa and Asia, while the fact that he is not considered a candidate from UEFA’s inner circle could make it easier for him to build broader alliances.

In fact, there are even officials within FIFA who are said to view a potential candidacy of his favorably.

His age, however, sets a specific time frame. If he decides to run in the election and wins, Wenger will effectively be able to serve a four-year term, given that he is already 77 years old.
