Two freezing days and nights on Sunday and Monday are the main features of the weather, although warnings of severe weather, Meteorological Officer Andreas Chrysanthou told CNA on Saturday.
Mr. Chrysanthou said that today, Saturday, rain fell in the southern and southeastern areas of Troodos, in the Lefkara area, which may develop into thunderstorms by evening, at which point the weather will clear up.

On Sunday, brief showers in the mountainous areas cannot be ruled out, he continued, adding that in the coming days, from Sunday through Tuesday, the weather will be mostly clear with some passing clouds.
On Tuesday evening, some rain is forecast for the western and northern coasts, he said, noting that on Wednesday, mostly clear weather is expected in most areas, with some rain after noon in the mountains.
The most significant feature of the weather, he noted, is the relatively cold air mass that will affect Cyprus from Saturday evening through Monday, causing temperatures to drop below seasonal norms. Specifically, temperatures will drop by two to three degrees Celsius compared to Saturday and will range from 18 to 20 degrees Celsius inland and along the coast, and around 3 to 4 degrees at night in the mountainousareas
Temperatures are expected to be cool during the day and at night on Sunday and Monday, but by Wednesday-Thursday, temperatures are expected to rise and return to normal levels for this time of year, Mr. Chrysanthou noted.
Responding to a question, he said that the forecast for the coming days does not include any phenomena that would fall under the scope of warnings issued by the Department of Meteorology.
