Final preparations are underway for the trilateral meeting between the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, the Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhurman, and the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy, María Ángela Olguín, on November 9.

According to information obtained by CNA from reliable sources, preparations are continuing along the lines set out recently, following the visit of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, to Cyprus last July, focusing, among other things, on crossing points, environmental issues, and the exchange of archives. In fact, CNA reports that Ms. Olgin has postponed her scheduled meetings for today with the municipalities of Famagusta and Morphou, which are now expected to take place on Tuesday.

One of the main issues being addressed in preparation for the trilateral meeting is the opening of new crossing points to and from the occupied areas of Cyprus. At the same time, environmental issues and the prospect of exchanging archival material are also at the center of discussions, according to CNA.

According to the information, this material includes archives such as documents and photographs pertaining to either the Greek Cypriot or the Turkish Cypriot community, which remained on either side of the ceasefire line after 1974, but thanks to digital technology, they can now be archived and preserved on both sides, with the originals being returned to the community to which they pertain.
