Bayern Munich technically remains in first place, ahead of Dortmund on goal difference, but both teams are tied at 21 points after Matchday 9 of this season’s league.

The Bavarians struggled at Mainz’s home stadium, but Kimmich’s thunderous shot in the 14th minute and Lenart’s finish in the 57th minute secured a 2-1 victory, with both goals coming off assists by Harry Kane! Titz pulled one back with a header in stoppage time, while, in the 40th minute, the home team thought they had temporarily equalized through Lee, but after a four-minute VAR review of the play—in which Neuer made a terrible rush out— the goal was disallowed for offside.

Following their midweek victory over Betis, Borussia Dortmund remained at Signal Iduna Park and celebrated another win, defeating Elversberg 2-1. The newly promoted team showed its mettle at one of the Bundesliga’s toughest home venues, but Enmecha’s two stunning goals—a low shot in the 55th minute and a powerful strike from outside the box in the 71st minute, secured the three points for Kovac’s squad, with Karetsa playing 67 minutes. Futkeu pulled one back in the 81st minute.

Eintracht Frankfurt seemed to have hit rock bottom and be ready to throw in the towel, but they scored in the 93rd minute while down a man, thanks to a tremendous header —assisted by the goalkeeper from a corner kick and finished off with a backheel by Burkard—to make it 2-2! Paderborn had briefly turned the game around, having trailed since the 23rd minute and staging a comeback with goals from Obermayer (45’) and Pleringer (73’). For the “Eagles,” Baum was sent off in the 75th minute, and while the task now seemed impossible, they managed to salvage a point.

Leipzig stepped up their intensity after seeing the goal Augsburg had scored in their head-to-head matchup, and after Kanté put the Bavarians up 1-0, things went… downhill. The comeback was completed in a two-minute span in the first half, with Banzuzi and Enkounkou finding the back of the net in the 33rd and 35th minutes, respectively, while Raum (45’+1’), Romulo (60’), and Baumgartner (66’) adding to the tally for a 5-0 lead, with Ogundu pulling one back to make the final score 5-2 in the 92nd minute.
