Brighton's winning streak continues!
Babis Kostoulas’s team secured its fifth win in its last six games, defeating Brentford 2-0, and moved into sole possession of second place in the standings, now five points behind league-leading Arsenal.
The “Seagulls” put on an excellent performance and secured the three points in the first half, then managed the game from there. Just 15 minutes in, Gomes gave the home team the lead, and things only got worse for the visitors when, eight minutes later, Igor Thiago was sent off. As if that weren’t enough, Gross converted a penalty in the 42nd minute to give Brighton a two-goal cushion, which they managed flawlessly in the second half.
Liverpool returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory at Crystal Palace, climbing to 4th place and sitting just three points behind City. The “Reds” were saved by VAR, as Larsen’s goal for the home team was correctly ruled offside in the 33rd minute and ultimately, McAllister put Iraola’s team ahead in the 40th minute.
The three points were sealed early in the second half when Barkola set up the play and Wirz, with his first goal of this Premier League season, made it 2-0 in the 54th minute, with the scorer turning provider and Isaac putting the icing on the cake in the 89th minute. All the Eagles managed to do was score a consolation goal through Enketia in the 90’+4′.
This marks Bournemouth’s fourth consecutive victory; they defeated Ipswich 2-1 on the road and are now in 7th place, while Chelsea continues to… stumble away from “Stamford Bridge,” this time losing 1-0 to Sunderland. And so, they suffered their third loss in five away league games, with Le Fei converting a penalty kick in the 36th minute to tip the scales in favor of the home team.
