He first won the award in 2025, scoring 29 goals and adding 19 assists, before repeating the feat a year later.
At the same time, he became only the sixth player in league history to win two Golden Boots. That list includes Bradley Wright-Phillips, Chris Wondolowski, Jeff Cunningham, Taylor Twellman, and Preki.

Messi’s time in the United States has already been marked by a series of individual and team achievements. In 2024, he was named the Landon Donovan MLS MVP, leading Inter Miami to the Supporters’ Shield, and in 2025, he won the MVP award again while also celebrating the MLS Cup victory.
He now has the opportunity to become the first player in history to win the MVP award three times.
Inter Miami finished the regular season in second place in the Eastern Conference and will face the Columbus Crew in the first round of the playoffs in a best-of-three series.
