The Cyprus Wushu Kung Fu Federation is delighted to announce the successful completion of the international program “China-Cyprus Sports and Cultural Exchange in Cyprus,” which took place from June 29 to July 5, 2026.

The program was co-organized by the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO), the Cyprus Wushu Kung Fu Federation, and the Confucius Institute at the University of Cyprus, with the aim of promoting Chinese culture and strengthening cultural and sports exchanges between Cyprus and China.

The opening ceremony was held with great success at the Hilton Cyprus, in the presence of Mr. Zhou Yunliang, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Cyprus, who delivered a welcoming address. In his speech, he emphasized that cooperation in culture and sports is a key pillar of the strategic partnership between the two countries, expressing his conviction that the program will contribute significantly to further strengthening bilateral relations. The President of the Federation, Mr. Kypros Andreou, also delivered remarks, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between Cyprus and China, as well as the value of Wushu as a means of sports, culture, education, and personal development. On behalf of the Chinese delegation, Ms. Sun Xiao expressed her hope that this initiative would inspire even more young people from both countries to discover Wushu and become future ambassadors of friendship between the two nations.

During the seminar, the participants trained under the guidance of three renowned Chinese coaches, gaining valuable knowledge and experience in various forms of Wushu. Through daily training, they made remarkable progress, while also deepening their understanding of the philosophy, discipline, and values that characterize Chinese martial arts.

A highlight of the program was the Chinese martial arts demonstration held on July 4 in the central square of Finikoudes in Larnaca, following a kind invitation from the Union of Cyprus Municipalities and the Municipality of Larnaca. Chinese coaches and Cypriot participants presented to the audience styles such as Wing Chun, Taiji, Sanda, Nanquan, Changquan, and other Kung Fu techniques to the public during an evening filled with energy, enthusiasm, and warm applause.

With the program concluding on July 5, the Cyprus Wushu Kung Fu Federation extends its warmest thanks to the co-organizers, the coaches, the participants, the organizations that supported the initiative, and the audience that embraced the program’s activities.

The Federation hopes that more and more people in Cyprus will discover, love, and practice Chinese martial arts, thereby helping to strengthen friendship and cooperation between Cyprus and China.
