With 31 different voices, dozens of messages of hope, and the active participation of staff, patients, and visitors, the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Center made its own dynamic contribution to the global effort to educate and raise awareness about breast cancer, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is internationally dedicated to this disease.
Through two initiatives—the digital campaign “For me, pink means…” and the “Wall of Hope”— the Center mobilized its staff and encouraged public participation, with the shared goal of spreading messages of awareness, prevention, and support throughout the wider community. The response highlighted the power of collective effort and the importance of personal contribution to a common cause.
These initiatives also highlighted the Oncology Center’s essential role in informing and raising awareness within society, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to actively contribute to the public dialogue on cancer, promote knowledge and prevention, and raise awareness of patients’ needs.
As part of the “For me, pink means…” campaign, 31 Center employees, from various specialties and professional roles, shared in short videos what the color pink symbolizes to them. Prevention, knowledge, scientific progress, care, strength, solidarity, and hope were some of the messages that emerged, while also highlighting the human dimension of oncology care. The videos were posted daily on the Center’s Facebook and LinkedIn pages, carrying the campaign’s messages beyond its walls and encouraging interaction and further sharing.
At the same time, the “Wall of Hope – Celebrating Life” became a gathering place and a space for collective expression. Patients, visitors, and staff left dozens of personal wishes and messages of encouragement for women facing breast cancer, creating a collective message of support and solidarity.
Referring to the importance of the campaign, Panos Ergatoudis, General Manager of the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Center, stated: “This year’s campaign highlighted the power of collective participation in raising awareness about breast cancer. We are proud that our staff, patients, and visitors responded to this effort, uniting their voices for a common cause. For the Oncology Center, our responsibility to society includes actively contributing to the public dialogue on cancer. Drawing on our scientific knowledge and experience, we continue to promote awareness, prevention, and early diagnosis, always putting people first. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in and supported this initiative.”
October is coming to an end, but the message remains: awareness, prevention, early diagnosis, and patient support are everyone’s responsibility.
