With key prosecution witnesses being called to testify, the closed-door hearing in the case against the suspendedPaphos Mayor, Faidon Faidonos.
During the last court session, three prosecution witnesses testified; according to reports, they are from the complainant’s workplace.
Since the start of the trial in late July, more than ten prosecution witnesses have testified. The majority of them are members of the police investigation team and experts.
The trial is being held behind closed doors and without a public audience, by order of the court, which granted a request to that effect from the prosecution.
The suspended Mayor of Paphos faces five charges, which include rape, indecent assault against a woman, indecent assault against a woman involving another act, assault resulting in actual bodily injury, and administering a drug or other substance capable of sedating or incapacitating a person.
The defendant has pleaded not guilty to all five charges.
