In response to the claims made by the Director of Veterinary Services, Christodoulos Pipis, that he had declared jaguars and lions to be cats, Melios Pet Center issued a new statement on Tuesday.
According to documents it provided, which include correspondence with government officials from European countries, not only were the animals’ names correctly declared, but it was also stated that the animals would arrive at Melios Pet Center Ltd.
“Animals that arrived legally from the Netherlands at my facility—legally imported and declared—were illegally confiscated and killed by the Game Fund. They ordered me, by court decision, to pay €1,200 plus interest and all other legal costs. “The criminals remain unpunished,” he also states in another announcement to which he attaches the court ruling.
