The Electricity Market Association (SAI) raised the need to further strengthen competition in the electricity market, with the aim of gradually reducing energy costs for households and businesses, was raised by the Electricity Market Association (EMA) during its meeting with the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority (CERA).
In a statement, the EMA noted that the meeting took place on Monday as part of its ongoing discussions with the relevant authorities to improve the functioning of the Competitive Electricity Market.
The SAE delegation was led by the Association’s President, George Chryssochos, while RAEK was represented by its President, Polyvios Lemonaris.
On behalf of the SAE, the Association’s proposals and key positions were presented, with a focus on the more efficient operation of the electricity market and the gradual reduction of energy costs for the benefit of households and businesses.
Both sides agreed on the importance of continuing a constructive technical dialogue among the relevant stakeholders, with the aim of addressing problems in a timely manner and implementing realistic and feasible solutions that safeguard Cyprus’s market and electricity grid.
The goal, as noted, is to strengthen competition, ensure transparency, and create a sustainable energy model that fully meets the needs of Cypriot society and the economy.
