The release of tourist arrival statistics, as published today by the Statistical Service, confirm the resilience that characterizes Cypriot tourism and reflect the true picture of the destination, which is admittedly bustling with life, said Deputy Minister of Tourism Costas Koumis.
The decline, he said in a written statement, was only 1.1% compared to July of the previous year, and the overall decline for the period from January – July—which is now below 10% for the first time (an 8% decline for the January–July period)—confirm the accuracy of this statement.
It is noteworthy, he added, that tourism in our country has actually recorded an increase in tourist arrivals compared to the corresponding period (January – July) of 2024 and 2023, amounting to 1.6% and 4.7% respectively, while compared to 2022, there has been an increase of 33.6%.
At the same time, the Deputy Minister stated that, as a government and as the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, we are monitoring the performance of each geographic market separately, focusing primarily on the coming years, and taking into account how each market is individually affected by international geopolitical developments.
“We remain committed to the rest of this year, as well as to the coming years, with a focus on the sustainable development of tourism in our country,” he concluded.
