A major new operation by the Greek FBI has been underway since Sunday morning, focusing on a well-known bakery chain and a tax fraud case involving millions of euros. According to reports, DAOE police officers participating in the operation have arrested the owner of the Greek chain.
According to the same reports, among those arrested is an accountant who is said to have been a key figure in the criminal organization’s structure. Finally, the same sources report that further arrests in connection with the case are expected in the near future.

The owner of the chain had been arrested in the past as well. Specifically, he had been arrested as the mastermind of a major human trafficking ring and, in 2015, was sentenced in the first instance to ten years in prison.
The ring was international, and according to the indictment, it laundered money from criminal activity through investments in the “Choriatiko” chain.
