Kansas is gearing up for a big match between Algeria and Austria, which will determine which team advances to the next round of the World Cup, the 2026 World Cup.
In Group 10, Algeria and Austria will face off in the early hours of Sunday (June 28, 5:00 a.m.), with both teams tied at three points.
The Africans got off to a very rough start in the tournament, suffering a bitter 3-0 defeat at the hands of world champions Argentina, thanks to Lionel Messi’s spectacular performance. They then managed, albeit with difficulty, to overcome Jordan’s resistance with a 2-1 victory and now have a golden opportunity, since if they avoid defeat, they will advance to the next round either as the second-place team or among the eight best third-place teams.
On the other side, the same applies to Austria, except that it holds the tiebreaker in its favor due to its superior goal differential.
Ralph Rangnick’s team got off to a strong start with a convincing 3-1 victory over Jordan, but then they, too, fell victim to the great soccer player known as Lionel Messi, with the Austrians losing 2-0 to Argentina.
If Austria manages to avoid defeat, it will certainly advance as the second-place team in Group 10.
Possible starting lineups:
Algeria: Zidane, Belgali, Madi, Bensebaini, Aït Nouri, Boudawi, Bentaleb, Mahrez, Maza, Saibi, Guiri.
Austria: Schlager, Laimer, Alaba, Lienhart, Pos, Seewald, Schlager, Sabitzer, Wanner, Schmidt, Arnautović.
