The amazing Karalis finishes second in Silesia, losing to the undefeated Dupulet

Another great performance by the Greek champion
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Emmanouil Karalis put on yet another impressive performance in Silesia, in a high-level competition full of twists and turns. From his very first jump, he showed that he was in excellent form, clearing all heights up to 6 meters on his first attempt—namely, 5.50 m, 5.80 m, 5.90 m, and 6.00 m. His form was clean, steady, and full of confidence, with each attempt coming off effortlessly.

When the bar was raised to 6.10 m, Karalis chose not to attempt the height, knowing that his opponents had already had failed attempts. Guttormsen was eliminated, while Dupont needed two attempts to clear the height and push the competition to 6.20 m, a jump that would set a new national record for Manolo.

At 6.20m, Karalis approached the bar with determination, but the bar did not stay in place on any of his three attempts. At the same time, Dupont found the rhythm he’d been lacking earlier and cleared the height on his first try, taking the lead and leaving the Greek champion in second place. Nevertheless, Karalis’s performance was one of the most complete of the year, featuring sound decision-making, clean jumps, and a presence that confirms he remains firmly among the elite in pole vaulting.

And what followed was even more spectacular. The legendary Swede raised the bar to 6.32m in an attempt to break his own world record of 6.31m once again. On his first attempt, the bar fell, but the crowd waited with bated breath for his next moves. In the end, Duplantis decided not to continue the competition, having already secured yet another major victory and leaving the 6.32 m mark for another time.
