Tziortzis is a contender for the NASCAR European Championship ahead of the semifinals

With all four games of the season now played

On track to contend for the titles, primarily in the OPEN class, but also with high hopes in the V8GP, following the race at the Autodrom Most track in the Czech Republic, ahead of the 2026 NASCAR EURO SERIES semifinals in Rome.

“It certainly wasn’t the weekend we were aiming for, but I’m grateful that, despite all the difficulties, I managed to rise to the challenge and we scored valuable points that officially put us in contention for the championship titlechampionship ahead of the semifinals in Rome,” says Tziortzis, adding: “With points counting double in the semifinals and finals, in the OPEN class we’re in the fight for the title, but also in the V8GP—we’re definitely aiming for a top-three finish, and why not the championship itself, since with double points it’s by no means impossible.”

With all four races of the season completed, Vladimiros Tziortzis is in 5th place among 28 drivers, in the OPEN class, just 33 points behind the leader, while in the V8GP he is in 11th place.

How the race unfolded

The three-day event got off to an ideal start as Vladimiros Tziortzis and his team, SPEEDHOUSE, managed to fine-tune, during the additional practice sessions, the car’s handling on Friday compared to Thursday, when the rear of the car would lose traction coming out of each turn. “On Friday, it was time to put on the new tires for the official practice sessions, where we were ultimately taken by surprise because we didn’t gain any additional time, which threw us off course and affected us over the weekend,” notes the Cypriot driver, adding: “It was something that became apparent during Saturday morning’s timed practice sessions in the OPEN class, where we finished 11th, and 17th in the V8GP.”

In the first V8GP race, on the 4th lap, Vladimiros Tziortzis experienced a brake failure that resulted in him being able to use them at only 20% capacity. As a result, he finished 15th, while that same afternoon, in the OPEN race, he managed to move up from 11th on the starting grid to finish 5th, also securing the additional seven points for the most passes in the race.

On Sunday, in the second OPEN race, he started from 9th position on the starting grid, but a problem with 4th gear arose as early as the first lap. “At every turn, when shifting from third gear, it wouldn’t engage fourth and would slip into fifth instead, causing the engine to underperform, so my only goal was to finish the race,” he said. In the end, he finished 10th.

Then, in the second V8GP race on Sunday afternoon, a new problem arose. “As soon as we started the warm-up lap before the start, we lost power to the rear drive shaft, and luckily for me, it happened right as I started the warm-up lap. Given the speed I was going and the fact that the straight was downhill, I managed to make it all the way to the pit exit where the mechanics could work on it,” he explains, continuing: “Even though I lost three laps, I managed to get back into the race, with the sole goal of scoring at least a few points, because if I hadn’t continued, I wouldn’t even have been able to remove this result (0 points), since I wouldn’t have completed even one lap.” After the safety car also came out on the track, Tziortzis managed to make up a lot of ground, finishing one lap behind—instead of the three he was initially—and took 19th place.
