When APOEL announced the signing of Facundo Pedroso, it didn’t cause much of a… stir, nor was there much excitement.
That’s understandable, one might say, given his resume and age, as the Argentine forward is approaching 34. His presence, however, on the field confirms that Nikos Papadopoulos’s decision to bring only this particular player with him from Levadiakos was not only the right one, but is now proving to be decisive.

In 7 league matches, Pedroso has scored 6 goals (tied for the lead in scoring with Efaghe-Grantsir) and one assist, having missed very little playing time, as he was substituted just three times, all in stoppage time. In fact, he achieved all of this during a period in which he shouldered the burden of the offense almost single-handedly, partly due to Pieros’s absence.
