Brisbane will host the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the official logo for the event was unveiled in a social media post.
The emblem is inspired by Queensland and the region’s defining features, such as its beaches, coral reefs, and the outback. At the same time, the design is also inspired by the cockatoo, one of the birds found in Australia.
Specifically, the announcement states: “THE LOGOS ARE HERE. Consider this post their official unveiling. Inspired by the coral reef, the beaches, our outback, and everything in between, they bring together the places, the people, and the spirit that will guide us through to 2032.
Unique. Undeniably Queensland. And with a little dash of… sass. And yes… that little creature is a cockatoo! Brisbane, Queensland, Australia—these are for you.”
