Zelsson Martins reached a significant personal milestone while playing for Olympiacos, as he made his 100th appearance with the “Red-and-Whites” across all competitions.
The Portuguese winger has contributed 15 goals and 17 assists during those appearances, having now established himself as one of the Piraeus club’s key players.
With his appearance in the European match, Zelsson joined the “club” of players who have worn the Olympiacos jersey in at least 100 official matches.
At the same time, he has now tied the appearance records of Savvas Kofidis, François Montesto, and Mario Vrousai, while two particularly well-known names now lie ahead of him.
Rivaldo has 101 appearances and Giorgos Vaitsis has 102, which means the Portuguese player could very soon catch up to and surpass them.
The 30-year-old winger’s personal milestone came on a night that ended perfectly for Olympiacos as well. The “Red-and-Whites” defeated Jagiellonia 2-1 at the “G. Karaiskakis” Stadium, kicking off their campaign in the Europa League group stage with a win. Although they fell behind early, they responded with a goal by González in the 43rd minute and completed the comeback with a goal by Roman Yaremchuk in the 84th minute.
