Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou described him as one of the most important figures in contemporary Cypriot journalism, Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou described Giorgos Tsalakos, who “passed away” yesterday after a battle with cancer.
As a journalist himself, Mr. Antoniou noted that he had not had the good fortune to work with the late Mr. Tsalakos, but they knew each other, and he was one of the people who helped shape his own “journalistic generation.”
“Giorgos Tsalakos was my father’s age. The previous generation is the one that nurtured us as journalists. We bid him farewell with love and respect.”
