*Press Release
OSEOK, as an institutional and collective body representing the construction industry, unreservedly condemns any illegal action by any contractor or company in the sector.
Particularly regarding issues concerning the terms and conditions of employment for workers in the construction industry, OSEOK, in collaboration with the trade unions and the Ministry of Labor, has helped establish a regulatory framework that everyone is required to follow.
Those who violate this framework create conditions of unfair competition to the detriment of our members and of companies that operate responsibly, lawfully, and consistently in fulfilling their obligations.
At the same time, it cannot be ignored that the construction sector is facing a serious shortage of a suitable workforce. Many companies are struggling—or are even unable—to meet their contractual obligations due to the actual shortages observed in the labor market.
This serious issue requires permanent and substantive solutions from the government. We acknowledge the significant improvement and acceleration of procedures by the relevant Ministry; however, the sector’s labor needs are growing at a much faster rate.
This real problem, of course, under no circumstances can it serve as an excuse for violating the law or for practices that harm workers, healthy competition, and the sector’s credibility.
OSEOK remains committed to cooperating with the government, the trade unions, and all relevant stakeholders, with the aim of ensuring compliance with the law, protecting workers, and ensuring the sustainable operation of the construction industry.
