Police in Larnaca are investigating a case involving motorcycle theft and traffic violations against a 36-year-old man.

Specifically, shortly after noon yesterday, a member of the Traffic Police Headquarters signaled a motorcycle rider on Artemidos Avenue in Larnaca to pull over for a check.

The motorcyclist failed to stop and, after accelerating and driving recklessly and dangerously on the city’s roads, he crashed into a guardrail, causing the motorcycle to come to a stop, while the driver fled the scene.

A member of the Traffic Police pursued the driver on foot and subsequently arrested him for offenses committed in the act. A check of the driver’s information revealed that he was a 36-year-old man who did not hold a driver’s license, and he refused to take a drug test.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the motorcycle had been stolen last Thursday (August 6, 2026) from Larnaca. The 36-year-old was then transported to Larnaca General Hospital, where it was determined that he had suffered fractures in his legs.

The suspect was subsequently charged in writing with the theft of the motorcycle as well as various traffic offenses he had committed, and was then released, to be summoned before a court at a later date.

The Kiti Police Station and the Larnaca Minor Offenses Division are continuing their investigation.
