There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and increasing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, six individuals were arrested for various offenses, including forgery, illegal possession of drugs, illegal possession of property, illegal stay in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, and others.
As part of these operations, 442 drivers and 225 passengers were stopped and checked overnight. At the same time, 41 property inspections were conducted to address violations, resulting in six complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 258 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and five cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Among the citations issued, 126 were for drivers exceeding the speed limit, while six vehicles were impounded as part of police investigations.
A total of 141 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in three citations, and one case of driving under the influence of drugs was identified following a preliminary drug test.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
