As markets awaited the U.S. government’s announcements regarding new economic pressure measures against Tehran, Donald Trump launched a fresh attack on oil companies.
“The major oil companies are not lowering their prices at the pump in line with the sharply lower prices they are paying for oil. In other words, customers are being cheated. I have asked the Department of Justice to immediately begin investigating this matter. Gas prices should start falling much faster than I’m seeing now.”

Analysts continue to sound the alarm about inventories and express particular concern about the coming period
.“As we enter the fall harvest season and the upcoming heating season, I am concerned about distillate stocks, specifically diesel, which is the most supply-constrained refined product globally. Stocks are approaching 100 million barrels, and this is set to be a very significant psychological threshold for the market.”

The measure providing a total price reduction of 8.33 cents per liter at Cypriot gas stations for gasoline and diesel will continue until September 17. Meanwhile, gas station owners are already calling for an extension of this measure.
Today, the average price of unleaded 95 is €1.59
, diesel is €1.82
, and heating oil is €1.46.
As for heating oil, which has seen a price increase of up to 50% over a six-month period, it is not included in the government’s measures.
