- Founder of DEMOCRACY 2.0, Journalist
For nearly three decades, through my work as a journalist, I have challenged the ruling powers in Cyprus and closely observed political developments in Greece.
Today, I feel that it is no longer enough to simply worry about what isn’t working in the Greek state. I must put forward a concrete proposal for the changes I believe can realistically be made.
On the island of Megalonisos, I had the opportunity to serve in a political party’s press office as a press spokesperson (Solidarity), but above all to participate in meetings as a member of a party body.
Simply put, I had the opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the inner workings of political organizations in Cyprus and Greece, but above all to understand how party mechanisms could function in this modern and rapidly evolving era.
This is exactly what DEMOCRACY 2.0 means to me: a new political beginning in Greece, which I am also presenting to you—the people who know me best through my journey in Cyprus.
In DEMOCRACY 2.0, we’re not simply proposing a change in who governs.
We propose changing the way power operates, is monitored, and is held accountable.
Why should the citizen’s voice truly hold power only on election day?
Why should transparency mean thousands of documents that very few people can find or understand?
Why is accountability so rare and almost never followed by real corrective action?
DEMOCRACY 2.0 proposes a state centered on the people: with well-reasoned decisions, public spending that leaves a truly traceable trail, and policies evaluated based on their results.
A state that acknowledges its mistakes, learns from them, and corrects them.
A democracy in which citizens can stay informed, participate, monitor, and judge.
Registration for volunteers, members of Scientific Councils, and even candidates for parliament in every prefecture of Greece has already begun on dimokratia20.gr.
Among other documents, the Party’s Founding Declaration, part of the government program, and the 24-article Governance Treaty are already posted there.
This ensures that a political party in Greece can be 100% transparent to its members and to society, through responsible and structured participatory democracy based on an institutionalized policy-making process, with clear political positions.
But it also ensures that the state itself will, in practice, respect and serve its citizens. These positions will be further developed by the party’s Scientific Councils in the run-up to the elections in the spring of 2027.
I am not asking for your trust in advance. Please scrutinize our proposal carefully and form your own judgment.
If your final judgment is positive, please share it with your friends, acquaintances, and relatives in Greece.
Because a strong Greece means a strong Cyprus.
