There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintain public order, and enhance the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, seven individuals were arrested for offenses such as vehicle theft, illegal residence in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, illegal possession of narcotics, possession of burglary tools during the night, and others.
As part of these operations, 622 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 903 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 58 inspections were carried out at premises aimed at combating criminal activity, resulting in four complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 277 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 14 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 102 were for speeding, and 14 vehicles were impounded as part of police investigations. In addition, 310 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 21 citations, as well as one preliminary drug test that yielded no positive results.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
