Houthi attacks in Aden and Saudi Arabia

Reports of 17 deaths from airstrikes on riyadh
ALPHANEWSLIVE

The Houthis in Yemen announced on Saturday that they had launched attacks against Aden, in the southern part of the country, as well as against targets in Saudi Arabia. At the same time, they accused Riyadh of carrying out a series of airstrikes on areas under their control, which, according to the Al-Masirah TV network, resulted in the deaths of at least 17 people.

The Iran-aligned rebels and the Saudi-led military coalition, which supports the forces of Yemen’s internationally recognized government, exchange blows almost daily, as the war in the poorest country on the Arabian Peninsula has reignited since July.

Explosions in Aden and attacks on Saudi facilities

Explosions were heard in Aden, the city that serves as the temporary seat of Yemen’s internationally recognized government, according to an Agence France-Presse reporter.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saria stated that the movement’s forces struck Saudi facilities at the “Al-Nasr,” as well as the naval base in Aden, which, he claimed, are controlled by the Riyadh-led coalition.

For its part, the Ministry of the Interior of Yemen’s internationally recognized government reported, according to the SABA news agency, that the attack targeted the Coast Guard headquarters and a second building at a different location.

The Houthis have launched repeated attacks against Aden in recent weeks, with a particular focus on the presidential palace.

Saria further claimed that over the past 24 hours, the movement had struck Riyadh International Airport, as well as the airports in Dammam and Najran. According to him, the targets also included a military airbase in Hamis Musait, crude oil pumping facilities, and an oil pipeline connecting eastern and western Saudi Arabia.

Riyadh Airport Resumes Operations

King Khalid International Airport announced that flights will resume on Sunday, following a two-week suspension of operations.

According to the announcement, Terminal 1 will handle domestic flights, while Terminal 2 will be used for international flights operated by national airlines.

A Houthi military spokesman, however, warned that the airport remains a “military target” and that attacks will continue. At the same time, he urged airlines, staff, and passengers not to use it.

The airport’s operations had been suspended on October 10, following an attack that, according to the report, left at least 13 dead and more than 300 injured, making it the deadliest attack in the kingdom in eleven years.

At least 17 dead from bombings, according to the Houthis

The Al-Masirah TV network, which is affiliated with the Houthis, accused Saudi Arabia of launching airstrikes on various areas of Yemen, including the capital, Sana’a, which is controlled by the rebels.

According to the network, the strikes killed at least 17 people. Among the incidents reported were a strike on a residential building in Sana’a, killing at least four people, and an attack on a cement factory in Hamdan, near the capital, which left eight dead.

In Hodeidah, in the west of the country, the Houthis announced that five members of the same family were killed in a Saudi raid.
