A drone attack on a bus claimed the life of one person and injured 30 others in the Russian-controlled part of the Zaporizhzhia region in southeastern Ukraine, announced Yevgeny Balitsky, the Russian-appointed governor of the region.

In addition, a man was killed and six others were injured in the city of Bryansk in western Russia following an attack by a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle, regional governor Yegor Kovaltchuk announced via Telegram.

Meanwhile, Russia struck transportation infrastructure in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, a supply hub in the Kharkiv region, and cargo ships, Russian news agencies reported, citing a statement today from the Russian Ministry of Defense

A bridge in the southern part of Kyiv, part of a major transportation corridor, was struck during a Russian airstrike, the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko, announced this morning.

“An airstrike hit the Pivdennyi Bridge. The metro infrastructure on the bridge was also damaged,” he reported via Telegram, noting that overnight, the Ukrainian capital was targeted by at least 10 Russian ballistic missiles, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

The local ceasefire around Olesky, a city in southern Ukraine occupied by Russian armed forces, went into effect in the early morning hours, as recently announced following a proposal by U.S. First Lady Melania Trump and accepted by both warring sides.

“As part of preparations for a humanitarian operation in the area of (the city of) Olesky, in the Kherson region, the armed forces of the Russian Federation ceased fire in the Kherson sector (…) as of 04:00 Moscow time” (Editor’s note: 03:00 Cyprus time), the Russian Ministry of Defense announced via Telegram.

The suspension of hostilities is expected to allow for a humanitarian operation to be carried out in the isolated community, where residents under siege have been facing severe shortages of food and medicine for weeks.
